February 5- Fairview Hotel
February 6-9- Mara Intrepids
February 10-15 Governors' Camp
February 16- Fly Home
Experience African safaris from two camps in the Masai Mara which are located in two of the most densely populated wildlife areas in the Mara. All tents are luxurious, very spacious and have flush toilets and hot showers.
We will be spending four days at Mara Intrepids on the Talek river in the central Mara. The Talek river is great leopard territory and close to good cheetah territory.
For the next six days we will be at Governors' Camp in the northern Mara. Governors' Camp is the base that many of the Masai Mara documentaries and movies were filmed from such as Big Cat Diary, The Truth About Lions and Disney's African Cats. It is also home to the famous Marsh pride and the beautiful leopard Romi. It is an area teeming with wildlife. In February, 2016 when we were there, there were over 500 elephants within a mile of camp. On our two previous visits to the camp we had great cheetah sightings near Governors' camp as well.
Join Greg from Harvey Wildlife Photography and seven other photographers. We are keeping the group small but large enough to garner group rates.
Flights to the Mara:
We will be chartering a 12 seater cessna. This will allow each of us to fly in 130 pounds of luggage and camera gear. If we didn't charter the cessna we would each only be allowed 33 total pounds.
Exclusive Vehicle Use at Mara Intrepids and Governors' Camp:
The exclusive vehicle use cost ranges from $300 to $550 per day in the Mara. On this safari, exclusive vehicle use for us is included. Each photographer is guaranteed their own row in the vehicle so they can photograph out of both sides of the vehicle.
Cost:- $5500.00 U.S. Based on double occupancy. You can travel as a single photographer without a single supplement. We do have to double up in tents though so you will be rooming with another photographer of the same sex.
One night at the Fairview hotel in Nairobi, all ground transfers, all accommodations and meals in the Mara
International Flights, Kenyan Visa- $50 US cash at arrival, tips, breakfast at the Fairview hotel, lunch and dinner in Nairobi after our safari, alcohol and pop. personal Items.
There are three things that frustrate photographers the most about safaris. On this trip they have all been addressed and taken care of.
1. Weight Restrictions- Check. 130 pounds per person.
2. Too Many People in a Vehicle - Check. One photographer per row. Maximum three photographers per vehicle.
3. Too Expensive?- Check. Great safari locations with group rates. Exclusive vehicle use and generous weight allowances on the plane to the Mara.
