African Wildlife: Leopard Cub in South Africa
These two days were two of my favourite safaris to date. When we were in South Africa we found this four month old leopard cub and his mom under a bush just before lunch time. The other guests left for lunch as the view of the leopards was very obstructed. In fact we could hardly see them at all. Knowing that there was no guarantee that we would find them again I absolutely refused to leave. The other safari guests left for lunch. A few minutes later elephants came into the area and scared the little cub up a tree. While everyone else was enjoying their lunch, we enjoyed a few precious hours with this little guy that I will likely never forget. We were at that camp for another couple days and didn't get an opportunity to see them again.
The other leopard cub we saw in Kenya in the Masai Mara. He was spending the day in a tree with his mom. His little sister was skittish. We didn't get a chance to see her much. He spent the day sleeping in an acacia tree. Our guide was great. We stayed at that sighting from 10a.m. until 4p.m.
