One of the bonuses of going up to photograph the polar bears is the light show of the aurora borealis at night. It's difficult as you never know when they will be out and for how long. The best Northern lights can show up at 10p.m. or 2a.m. and they may be out for 15 minutes or four hours. Then you still need to be up early to photograph the bears in the morning.
